Toy Organization Ideas for a Small Space

Aug. 30, 2023

Living in a small space with kids could feel very overwhelming with all the toys lying around all day long. With a bit of creativity and some smart organization strategies, you can transform even the tiniest of spaces into an orderly and fun-filled play area for your child. These are some of the toy organization ideas that you can implement in your small space to work better for both you and your kids.

Vertical Storage Solution

Vertical Storage, wall-mounted shelves, or hanging baskets would be the best use of the space when you have a limited floor footprint. This option is also great if you want to store something out of your kid’s reach.

Multi-Functional Furniture

Investing in furniture that has multi-purpose will give you options for extra storage space. It could be a bed with built-in drawers, or kid’s table with storage, or a coffee table with shelves on the sides. My living room is my kid’s playroom and this is exactly what I did to keep my sanity in.

Clear Containers and Labels

Having a clear bin with labels is the biggest time saver when it comes to organizing kid’s toys especially if you do toy rotation. This is also a great idea for the toys with small pieces to group together. This method not only is easy to maintain but also a teachable moment for your kids to clean up after playing with a certain toy.

Toy Rotation

Toy rotation is a great method to prevent a small space from cluttering up super quickly. Pack up some of the toys, save them for the later weeks, and keep rotating through them. This way the small space is not packed with random toys all year long plus it makes the kids think that they are playing with new toys in every rotation.

Floating Wall Shelves

Floating wall shelves are just not books, Install a few of them on the wall to store toys, collectibles or even baby essentials. These shelves not only look nice they look very organized as well.

Toy Nets or Hammocks

A toy hammock or net is another fun idea to store toys, especially stuffed toys. This keeps the toys off the floors and gives the room a playful vibe.
